Audrey Kennedy is the program manager for the National Maritime Education Council (NMEC) a national, member-based industry trade association that she was instrumental in establishing in 2012 and that is now under the management of The TJC Group. NMEC is working to develop a national workforce system for the maritime industry.

Prior to retiring from the Alabama Community College System in 2015 after 25 years, she worked at the Alabama Technology Network (ATN) where she managed a Department of Commerce post Katrina grant that led to the formation of the Gulf States Shipbuilders Consortium (GSSC), a regional trade association working to address workforce issues in the shipbuilding and ship repair industries. In her role as program manager, she worked with GSSC members and other industry partners, to develop the organization’s standardized shipfitting curriculum and to launch a highly successful, accelerated, performance-based boot camp model for entry-level shipfitters that is being replicated along with Gulf Coast. She currently serves on the board of GSSC and as program manager for the organization.

Audrey is an NCCER Master Trainer.  She earned her B.S. degree in Liberal Studies from Athens State University in 1998 and her M.A. degree and Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from The University of Alabama in 2003 and 2010, respectively. She resides in Woodstock, AL with her husband, Spencer.
